The Process

Savannah Street will manage every step of the sale of your collection. We start by evaluating your salable items and setting realistic market expectations. Savannah Street curators will photograph items in your home, list and market them, and handle all of the pick-up and shipping logistics. Our model is entirely online allowing us to reach the broadest audience and achieve the best results with minimal disruption to your home.

Consignment vs. Auction

The number of salable items you have will determine the sale format, either consignment or auction.

Consignment is the best option for individuals who have a small number of pieces to sell. In consignment, items are listed at a set sale price, which is agreed upon in advance. Your pieces will be listed for an indefinite amount of time, until they are purchased. Sellers receive 50% of the proceeds on consigned items.

For larger collections, such as a whole or partial estate, an auction format may be recommended. An online auction runs for approximately 2-3 weeks. Minimum bids are set for each item and, as long as the minimum bid is met, each item in the collection will be sold to the highest bidder, with every item selling on the same day. Sellers receive 70% of the proceeds from an auction.

What We’re Looking For

We will assess each of your potential items to determine if they are the right fit for our client base. As a guide, here is an incomplete list of items that tend to do well with our buyers.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bamboo and faux bamboo furniture

  • Cane furniture - benches, chairs, settees

  • Ceramics, especially Chinese

  • Custom upholstery in excellent condition

  • Dining chairs in sets of 8, 10, 12 or more

  • Dining rooms tables

  • European and American period antiques

  • Fine china and table top accessories including sterling silver flatware

  • Framed, original artwork and mirrors

  • Furniture from high-end manufacturers such as Baker, Henredon, Hickory Chair, and Lee Industries

  • Lighting by brands such as Visual Comfort and Frederick Cooper

  • Marble-topped consoles, tables, and stands

  • Outdoor furniture sets

  • Pairs of living room chairs (club, lounge, swivel)

  • Pairs of nightstands and end tables

  • Reproduction furniture in certain styles and categories*

*A note about reproduction furniture:
Reproduction furniture is contemporary furniture (20th Century) made in the style of popular antique designs, such as Queen Anne and Chippendale. The market for reproduction furniture varies greatly by style and category. For instance, reproduction dining tables, which can be combined with modern seating, are in higher demand and bring a higher price point than large china cabinets, which have fallen out of favor with homeowners and designers. Savannah Street can evaluate your reproduction furniture to determine which pieces may have the most value in today’s market.

You may have items in your collection that we cannot accept due to style or condition. If that is the case, we will do our best to recommend alternatives which may be a good fit.
